There is a groan that must diminish. It’s the groan emanating from a faulty foundation. In this, we do not relent. We dig for soft spots, unearth the sand, and build our lives upon a rock-solid foundation. In so doing, though, we come into a reality. It’s a reality that, if unexpected, can leave us disillusioned. It’s not that we thought this life would last forever, but we hoped we wouldn’t still feel vulnerable. In truth, though, we do. We discover new life, new joy, new peace, new patterns, but we do not shed life’s frailty.
