Part of the GetUp Project, Hope Clinic exists to provide high quality healthcare to refugees and other underserved populations. Volunteer opportunities are numerous. They include (but are not limited to) medical & dental care, administrative & computer skills, as well as hospitality & greeting.
Resettled refugees have come to refer to the US as the “Paper Nation” as the list of paperwork they need to complete is unending! Two Thursdays a month, refugees and volunteers gather at the Timber Apartments on Clayton Lane to collectively fill out forms and applications.
When refugees arrive in Austin, they experience a whole new reality! Assist refugees in acclimating to life here by helping them navigate the bus system and learning how to grocery shop! Consider volunteering through Caritas of Austin.
Many unexpected needs arise as refugee families work to get settled here in Austin – furniture, food, clothing, diapers, cleaning supplies, rides to appointments, etc. Consider being a first responder to these needs by joining our SOS Needs Email List!
The desire for and friendship within the refugee community is a strongly felt need. In response to this, we partner with SARA Organization to host social events for Syrian ladies and girls on a quarterly basis. Consider assisting in the planning and execution and/or joining us at one of these events.
Every Christmas season Gateway provides gifts, coats and household items for the refugee communities. Volunteers are needed on a seasonal basis to help with the coordinating and execution of the Giving Tree, as well as with the wrapping and delivering of gifts.
The ability to speak English is crucial for refugees when they arrive in Austin. Consider serving with English Language Ambassadors {ELA} as they work to provide weekly ESL classes to women, right out of their apartments!
When a refugee family is resettled in Austin they are given an allotment of food stamps to help feed their family. Cleaning products, however, are not covered by those food stamps. Give the Gift of CLEAN by committing to purchase cleaning supplies once a month for a local family!
The world has come to our doorstep, and you can help! Join us as we serve and share God’s love with our global neighbors through a partnership with AISD to mentor refugee students – serving them and their families! Application, background check, and training required.

This team will partner with Vissioneers to help meet the spiritual needs of refugees – primarily young men – in Berlin, Germany. Ministry activities will be highly relational and may be physically taxing – sports, teen nights, social outings, etc. Verbally sharing the life and freedom that is found in Jesus Christ will be a main focus for this team.
